Tapered roller bearings have a conical inner ring and an outer ring raceway, and the tapered roller is arranged between the two. The projected lines of all conical surfaces meet at the same point on the bearing axis. This design makes tapered roller bearings particularly suitable for bearing combined (radial and axial) loads. The bearing capacity of tapered roller bearings depends on the Angle of the raceway of the outer ring, and the greater the Angle, the greater the bearing capacity. The axial load capacity of the bearing is mostly determined by the contact Angle α. The larger the alpha Angle, the higher the axial load capacity. The Angle size is expressed by calculating coefficient e. The greater the e value, the greater the contact Angle, and the greater the applicability of the bearing to bear the axial load.
Installation adjustment of tapered roller bearing Axial clearance For the installation of tapered roller bearing axial clearance, you can adjust the adjusting nut on the journal, adjust the gasket and the thread in the bearing seat hole, or use the pre-loaded spring and other methods to adjust. The size of the axial clearance is related to the arrangement of the bearing installation, the distance between the bearings, the material of the shaft and the bearing seat, and can be determined according to the working conditions.
For tapered roller bearings with high load and high speed, when adjusting the clearance, the effect of temperature rise on the axial clearance must be considered, and the reduction of the clearance caused by temperature rise must be estimated, that is, the axial clearance should be appropriately adjusted to a larger extent.
For bearings with low speed and subjected to vibration, no clearance installation should be adopted, or pre-load installation should be applied. The purpose is to make the roller and raceway of the tapered roller bearing have good contact, the load is evenly distributed, and the roller and raceway are prevented from being damaged by vibration impact. After adjustment, the size of axial clearance is tested with a dial gauge.
