What does 2RS bearing mean?

2RS is a symbol of the bearing sealing method, where RS stands for the use of film for sealing, and 2RS specifically refers to the use of film sealing on both sides of the bearing. Under the premise of keeping the basic dimensions of the bearing consistent, 2RS bearings can provide better protection for the bearings with their sealing method. In order to measure the bearing’s ability to resist pitting corrosion, we introduced a standard: the maximum load that the bearing can withstand when it runs one million revolutions (10^6 revolutions) is defined as the basic rated dynamic load. In other words, if a bearing runs for one million revolutions under the rated dynamic load C without pitting failure, then we believe that the bearing has a 90% reliability. Obviously, the larger the C value, the stronger the bearing’s load-bearing capacity. However, it is worth noting that due to the precision differences in the manufacturing process and the unevenness of the materials, even bearings of the same material and size will have fluctuating service lives under the same working environment. According to statistics, in the distribution of bearing life, the longest can reach 20 to 40 times the shortest life. Based on this, we define the number of revolutions or hours that a bearing can run without pitting corrosion with a probability of 90% as its rated life.

In the automotive industry, the sealing technology of 2RS bearings has been widely used. This sealing method not only effectively extends the service life of the bearing, but also significantly reduces the risk of failure due to pitting corrosion. For automobiles, the durability of bearings is directly related to the performance and service life of the entire vehicle. Therefore, when selecting automotive bearings, it is particularly important to use suitable 2RS bearings. Of course, different models and usage environments have different performance requirements for bearings, which requires us to make reasonable choices based on the actual situation.
